PATRICIJA HORVAT
Patricija Horvat, born in Osijek, has a master’s degree in English and German language and literature. For the last twenty years, she has been working as a freelance translator and interpreter.
Since 2005, she has been a member of the Croatian Literary Translators’ Association. In that period, she has translated more than 50 literary works from English and German into Croatian, among others novels by John Williams, Sally Rooney, Alain de Botton, Paul Beatty, Elizabeth Strout, Ralf Rothmann, Erich Kästner, etc.
Apart from translating, she used to work in public relations and marketing, has taught literary translation at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split, participated as a mentor in literary translation workshops and coordinated a creative writing project.
She is active as a literary promotor and organiser of literary events. Within the framework of various literary projects and festivals (Bookvica, Disku(r)sija, Pričigin, Mediterranean Book Festival in Split, Festival of World Literature in Zagreb, Book Fair in Leipzig, etc.), she has presented several hundred of mostly Croatian, but also foreign, authors and literary works to the audience. Since 2023, she has been the artistic manager of the storytelling festival Pričigin in Split.
